Freaking sweet track

I really like this track! You really should have made it longer. What programs did you use, what plugins, etc? I personally use the z3ta+ VST in FL, but I have nowhere near the same skill as you do >.> Also, what sample pack do you use?

I love this song!

hopeku responds:

I use Reason 4.0 with no plugins nor vsts, and no particular sample packs

Thanks buddy!

love the original, love the remix :)

Very good mix, dude! My only complaint is the bass, if you used something else I would like this even more. What software did you use to make this? And where did you get the samples?

Peace

Dj-Final responds:

The bass eh? well then maybe i'll have to do something about it yes? i'll check it out and see what i can do!
I used FL8.
N the vocals were so hard to come across.

ha check out my newest song iv just put on here, glad u enjoyed man ;-)

hmmm

I'm not entirely sure how to respond to this piece. Like mmllzz said, it feels complete, but at the same time like it's missing something. Bassline got a bit monotonous for me, but transitions were smooth and the sounds were pretty nice.

8/10, but a 5/5 because it's really not lacking anything.

DJ-VIZ responds:

alright thanks

very neat

All over the place, but you transitioned beautifully. I can only complain that it didn't give me enough time to feel the beat before you take it away.

Very awesome synths. I can only complain, again, that it didn't give me enough time to experience them before you took them away.

It's pretty good, but you could have spent a bit more time mastering it (there's no such thing as too much mastering), and a bit more effort on the transitions and letting it reach it's full potential as a clubby remix.

9/10, 5/5

DJ-VIZ responds:

Thanks, wierd all the songs you revisited to review had vocals lol!

:D rave heaven!

Love the original. You added a bit of nice flair to it, but it has a few flaws that I'm able to point out. One is the bassline- The bass doesn't match the "epic saw" you used for the lead, or the vocals. There is a part where you give the bass and the vocals a part alone- and I almost cried at the poor matching.

Then came the part at 2:24. I cried, this time in big man tears, at the poor matching. My suggestion to fix this would be to tweak with it- there's no need to have all the mids you put into it, a simple multiband filter that excludes a bit of the mids would be perfect- it should remove the obtrusiveness of the bassline. Or you could switch to a square/saw mix oscillator at a higher pitch and try to make it more 'epic'.

The lead was pretty cool, the only thing I can complain about is that it's not grand enough. I love the huge scale you take with this song, though.

In summary, I'm not voting 10 because of a couple of things:

The bassline did not blend with the leads, creating a poor aural experience (for me, at least),
it didn't seem finished- I felt like you could have done MORE,
you got the original artist's name wrong, it's Dave mcCullen, not Dan (proof-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D ave_McCullen)

8/10, 4/5

Nice ideas, never thought of them! -- I also thought I could do much more, I made this song within a day it was one of those just quick flowing ideas type of things, and i decided to sumbit, because i have literally 80 works in progress. I agree with your complaints, and the advice. If i revisit this mix I will def. keep what you said in mind. Ty for the rev!

decent

Do you use Audacity, Ableton, or something else for editing your samples? I heard Ableton had good warp thing, might help you with the vocals being kinda off.

you did a pretty good job with this. I liked the simplistic synths you used, very retro-sounding. Not quite "clubby", but good headphone listening. I'd like to see you expand on this, it has potential.

DJ-VIZ responds:

I actually just use Edison, sometimes a cheap free trial program and shit like that for vocals, I really like mixing songs with vocals, but its tough work and a shit load of time ... remixing songs like this are especially a bitch, because I didn't even know what the original's tempo was... So i kind of played it by ear, which is why half the vox are pretty off. Thanks for the review again, time to check some of ur stuff.

You guys would never understand...

You have to burn the rope. If you don't burn the rope, you'll never get it.

Great song!

Reachground responds:

Very wise my friend. It's as easy as that...

Holy shit!

All Sytrus??? That's crazy, dude. Mad props! And to think I had given up on Sytrus...

Mrmilkcarton responds:

Wooo sytrus synthes for the win.

Effort makes good songs

You put effort into making this one NOT suck, well done. VARIATION is the key within electronic music. Also, you classified right this time, I felt a beat. Multiple leads, No annoying sounds, lead ins were good, drums weren't prominent (a good thing in electronic). Harmony was present. End needed work on an outro. Slowdown sucks. Use a fade out and you'll get a 10/10.

DJ-VIZ responds:

wow a kind review from you! and i thought this is one of my worst songs
